CheckMates Chess Academy hold summer chess classes through the Lake Zurich Park & Recreation Department. Classes take place at the Barn Location in Lake Zurich, Illinois. These classes are open to children of all chess levels, and are a great way to keep your child sharp minded during summer vacation. Beginners will learn how to move the pieces along with check and checkmate. Players who already know the rules will learn chess strategies and tactics such as pins, forks, skewers. As with all CheckMates Chess Classes, our focus will be on making sure kids walk away from chess classes with skills that will help them both on and off the board. Signup is handled through the Lake Zurich Park & Recreation Department. Their phone number is 847-438-5146.
